Season Four continues with two new episodes!

Old School Funn by Ben Cottam (from an idea by Rosie Fletcher) sends Rudyard and Antigone back to school where they think back upon their younger years, long before Eric Chapman ever came to Piffling Vale. We also have a trio of guest stars: Lewis Allcock as the sadistic sports teacher Mr Askey, Bhawna Bhawsar as Antigone's science inspiration Miss Khatri, and Thom Tuck in his third appearance as a member of the Sodbury clan.

The Big Cheese by Tom Crowley gives Madeleine the starring role for a change, when she saves Eric's life at a social function and becomes a local hero - much to Rudyard's chagrin. Paul Putner marks his return to the show as the easily impressed journalist Sid Marlowe, and we even pay a brief return visit to the publishing house of the rodent world, Random Mouse.

You can find both episodes on your podcast app of choice, on Audioboom, or on Youtube.

We also have the first of our new season of live shows on Sunday 30th. Watch us on stage at Kings Place in London, or stream us from anywhere in the world! If you want to put some faces to voices, check out our slate of upcoming shows on our website.

We began working on this in 2019. Recording was planned for the Spring of 2020 and got delayed till the Autumn of 2021. But at last, here we are: Wooden Overcoats is back for ten new adventures!

I wrote the first episode of Wooden Overcoats at the very start of 2015 and by the end of the year the team had made and released the entire first season. The show has been with me ever since. It's such a strange feeling to return now, nearly four years after the previous season, for our last extended trip to Piffling Vale.  I'm going to miss Rudyard, Antigone, Georgie, Eric, Madeleine and the others.

But that's for later! Today we released the first episode of our fourth and final season: The Body Snatchers.

It’s the dead of night and the Funns are in the cemetery – because Eric Chapman needs their help!

For this episode, I wanted to let us spend time with the characters after such a prolonged absence, so devised a situation that would focus on their dynamics and relationships - with deliberate echoes of the very first episode in 2015. And we get to welcome back beloved regulars Agatha Doyle (Alison Skilbeck), Mayor Desmond Desmond (Sean Baker) and Reverend Wavering (Andy Secombe).
It should hopefully feel like a warm welcome home, and the response from the listeners has already been heartfelt and wonderful to see. Do subscribe and listen to Wooden Overcoats on your podcast app of choice, or enjoy the episode on Audioboom or Youtube.

And if you'd like to see this episode performed live, you can! Wooden Overcoats Live returns to Kings Place in London on January 30th with performances of The Body Snatchers and Rudyard Ruins Hallowe'en, with the rest of Season Four to follow over the ensuing months. And best of all, you don't have to be in London to watch it - we're streaming them live, so you can see them anywhere in the world!

Book your tickets today by visiting our page at Kings Place and we'll see you there!
