Mysterious strangers & naked calendars...

Since I last updated this page, we've had three new episodes of Wooden Overcoats Season 4 - taking us ever closer to the series finale next week. I'm still in no way prepared to see this show come to an end after seven years of working on it. You think you'll have everything sorted and then suddenly the moment's upon you. I'm going to miss playing in Piffling Vale terribly.

But we're not quite there yet...

First we're going In the Buff in episode 7 as Antigone discovers to her horror that she's volunteered to appear in a naked calendar!

Returning writer Molly Beth Morossa gives us a funny and sensitive story about having confidence in your own body, with wonderful supporting roles for Alison Skilbeck, Andy Hamilton, and Emily Stride. We also welcome two new visitors to Piffling: Eleanor Faye as the glam photographer Sin St. John, and Amy Rockson as the mysterious Zoe Adeyinka...
Whoever Zoe is, she seems to know a lot about Eric Chapman - and he's not too happy about it.

Episode 8 is my own Once Upon a Long Time Ago. It gives us some answers about Chapman's backstory - and a lot of new questions...

Rudyard can scent victory and he'll stop at nothing, even seeking the advice of Piffling's most dangerous captive, the murderous secretary Marjorie Smith (an incredible performance from Elle McAlpine)!

Events reach a head at the top of the Piffling Falls, and afterwards Eric Chapman has a drastic and somewhat peculiar request to make of the Funns.

Episode 9: The Last Nail in the Coffin by myself and Alex Lynch is the penultimate episode of the series, and unleashes Georgie and the Funns upon Eric's very own funeral workshop!

Keep your ears open for a special guest later in the episode - and stick around after the credits.
As ever, you can find the show on your podcast app of choice, on Audioboom, or on Youtube. Next week we're bidding A Funn Farewell with episode 10, our biggest episode ever. I hope you'll join us!

Doctor Who & Piffling Vale

It's a double dose of funeral-based mayhem, across the universe! First off, Big Finish have released the fourth volume of their Ninth Doctor Adventures, starring Christopher Eccleston as Doctor Who. In Fond Farewell, the Doctor goes to an intergalactic funeral home where the deceased can attend their own wake - but who is stealing the memories of the dead? Co-starring Juliet Stephenson and Sienna Guillory, this 60-minute drama can be bought in the Old Friends set direct from Big Finish.

Of course, Rudyard Funn knows all about sabotaging funerals over in Wooden Overcoats, which begins its final run of five episodes this week with Radio Drama by Wolf 359's Gabriel Urbina. Georgie's relationship with local radio host Jennifer Delacroix is put under strain when Rudyard's latest scheme backfires and a mob lays siege to Funn Funerals. With superb leading performances from Ciara Baxendale and Alana Ross, and the long overdue return of Ellie Dickens as the curmudgeonly Miss Scruple, this one combines romantic drama and some of our silliest gags - including the hit opera Rudyard the Rat King.

You can find it on your podcast app of choice, on Audioboom, or on Youtube.
