I've been doing some spring cleaning around this website, adding new pages and tidying others. You can now find pages for Monkey and Monster Hunters, and Games of Love and Chance and Timothy have been updated. And of course there's now a Radio section, with a page for Drayton Trench: Great Caesar's Ghost - because it's now completed and entirely available online!

Enjoy all six episodes of the pulse-pounding, rib-tickling adventure serial over at Zut Alors Theatre. Download, listen, laugh, love. Allow it to fill that special place in your heart that has repelled lesser radio series in the past.

And whilst you're doing that - and assuming you live in London - do consider popping along to one of my plays in May!

- Tickets for Timothy / Monkey on May 3rd & 4th at the Drayton Arms Theatre are very much available. Two plays for a fiver! I'm practically giving them away.

- Tickets are now on sale for Monster Hunters on May 23rd, 30th & June 4th at the King's Head Theatre. This full length comic drama about an old lady looking for Bigfoot was written in 2013 and I'm delighted it's finally getting staged. You'll be delighted too if you see it. Because it's delightful.

If you do come along, say hello! I like to say hello.

Details and tickets now available for two performances of two one-act plays in early May!

TIMOTHY
by David K. Barnes and Michael Milne

"Whatever you do, don't let him kill you."

Sweet. Cheerful. Incredibly handsome. Timothy is a husband to die for - no wonder his wife is worried. When Yvonne and Susan are invited to a meeting in the cellar, neither of them know what to expect. But after Annette claims her husband is planning to kill her, they find themselves drawn into a tangled web of rash accusation and rising panic. With Timothy at work in the kitchen, can the three women separate fact from fiction and escape with their lives?

MONKEY
by David K. Barnes

“People can’t resist giving money to a monkey.”

A few months ago, you could have found Barbara leaping from tree to tree in the depths of a distant jungle. Now she works for an organ grinder on the shores of the English seaside, dancing for spare change and having a thoroughly miserable time. Anxious, trapped and bored to tears, Barbara finds solace in the company of the organ grinder’s wife – but can either of them escape from the lives they never wanted?

A short tale of a little monkey in a bad and baffling world.

Starring Beth Eyre, Alys Henry, Sarah Sorensen and Peter Wicks
Produced by Tumble Dry Theatre
Directed by John Rushton

May 3rd / 4th 8pm
2 hours duration
Drayton Arms Theatre, 153 Old Brompton Road, London, SW5 0LJ

May Plays - Timothy, Monkey, Monster Hunters!

I'm not dead! I realise I haven't updated this blog (or website) for a while. I've been fiendishly busy behind the scenes but with nothing to actually show for it, and I still have several projects on the go that haven't been officially announced. So I can't announce them. Ho hum.

However, I can say that there are several chances to catch my work on stage in the coming months!

May 3rd / 4th, 8pm - TIMOTHY & MONKEY - DRAYTON ARMS, LONDON

Tumble Dry Theatre are bringing Timothy back to the stage at the Drayton Arms Theatre. This time it's paired with a brand new play I've written called Monkey, which examines the relationships between an organ grinder, an organ grinder's wife and an organ grinder's monkey. Two one-act plays for an evening of entertainment: you can't say fairer than that. Tickets available here.

MAY 23rd & 30th, JUNE 4th, 3pm all days - MONSTER HUNTERS - KING'S HEAD THEATRE, LONDON

Crowley&Co. headed by the dauntingly talented Tom Crowley are bringing my full length comic drama Monster Hunters to the King's Head Theatre, as part of the venue's Without Décor programme. No set, a few props (we've built them, they're amazing), a bit of tech, four actors, and a fully rehearsed two hour play about an old lady looking for Bigfoot in Kent. It could be very exciting indeed. Tickets available here.

MAY 24th 8pm & JUNE 12pm - TIMOTHY - BURDALL'S YARD, BATH, and THE EGG, BATH

Lastly, OnSet Productions, comprised of students from Bath Spa University, are also staging Timothy at two venues in Bath. It's always delightful to have work staged by groups I've no previous involvement with, as often they'll produce interpretations of my scripts that I'd never considered before. I wish them all the best and am hoping to pop down to Bath to see it! Tickets available here and here.

And for those wondering what happened to Drayton Trench: Great Caesar's Ghost: the rest of it is coming soon! Various problems were encountered and solved mid-way through production and we expect all six episodes to be available within the next few weeks. The Gin & Tonic movie remains in post-production also.
