Doctor Who goes to a funeral parlour!

Slipping in a final bit of news before the end of 2021 - I've written a Doctor Who script for Big Finish starring the ninth Doctor as portrayed by Christopher Eccleston!

Fond Farewell sees the Doctor invited to the funeral of a celebrated naturalist - but at this intergalactic funeral parlour, the dead can attend their own wake! Despite the setting, no, this isn't a Wooden Overcoats  crossover, but it was a lot of fun to write. I was still doing my AS Levels when Doctor Who came roaring back to our screens, and I instantly fell in love with Eccleston's portrayal. For the first time, it felt like there was a Doctor you might conceivably meet in the street, making the prospect of a trip in the TARDIS that bit more likely!

The story will be released in a volume packaged with a fantastic two-parter by Roy Gill. Nab yourself a copy of The Ninth Doctor Adventures: Old Friends in February 2022, on download, CD, or vinyl.

Wooden Overcoats returns for its fourth and final season in 2021, with ten brand new adventures - and now we can give you some details about what's coming up! Beginning with the episodes themselves...

1 - THE BODY SNATCHERS by David K. Barnes - 13th January
2 - OLD SCHOOL FUNN by Ben Cottam from an idea by Rosie Fletcher - 20th January
3 - THE BIG CHEESE by Tom Crowley - 27th January
4 - A MATCH MADE IN PIFFLING by David K. Barnes - 3rd February
5 - DEAD MAN'S CHEST by Sarah Shachat - 10th February

Then we're taking a little break, before coming back with:

6 - RADIO DRAMA by Gabriel Urbina - 3rd March
7 - IN THE BUFF by Molly Beth Morossa - 10th March
8 - ONCE UPON A LONG TIME AGO by David K. Barnes - 17th March
9 - THE LAST NAIL IN THE COFFIN by Alex Lynch and David K. Barnes - 24th March
10 - A FUNN FAREWELL by David K. Barnes - 31st March

And then... Wooden Overcoats will have ended. I'm incredibly stoked to get these ten episodes released next year. I reckon it's our best season yet, and I hope you'll enjoy yourselves as much as we did making it.

I'm also delighted to have worked once again with Ben Cottam, Tom Crowley, Rosie Fletcher, Alex Lynch, Molly Beth Morossa, Sarah Shachat and Gabriel Urbina, some of them writing full length episodes of the series for the first time (having delivered wonderful Funn Fragments earlier in the run)!

But we're also welcoming five new friends to Piffling Vale:

Meet actors Lewis Allcock, Bhawna Bhawsar, Lucy Farrett, Eleanor Faye and Amy Rockson, who are joining our usual cast for season 4 - but as to who they're playing, we'll be keeping that a secret for the time being...
